The Tango Café

When you step through the door of the Tango Café, you will find yourself in a quiet corner of Argentina that somehow managed to migrate north until it lodged in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood. Tucked in on Forward Avenue just a few doors up from Murray Avenue, the Tango Café is a cozy haven of culture and community wrapped in the familiarity of hot soup and warm, homemade bread. A healthy dose of Argentinean sweets and beverages make it hometown Pittsburgh with an exotic twist.

Over the years, the Tango Café has turned many passers-by into café regulars with their simple hospitality. In an effort to give back to the community, it has also been the home of many Latin music jam sessions and long-standing art exhibits. Always willing to share their culture, out hosts offer up a variety of language classes, some of which have run for five years of more as the students become part of the extended “family.”
